The Autism Creature started out as an MS paint doodle created by Twitter user @onion_fleur (Formally @acmeiku). It was first posted in 2021 and became popular on Tumblr in 2022. It inspired fanart, memes, and even spawned a video where the creature is shown with a "YIPPEE!!!" sound effect.

Since then, it has been referred to as the mascot for Autism as it represents the experiences and perspectives of many people on the Autism spectrum.
